• It all started in 1909 when The Falls Rubber Company began to make tires and tubes for motorized buggies and Ford Model A’s
• The factory was located in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and then expanded to making inner tubes too
• The Falls tires were known for their unique slow-cooling process that prevented the tires and tubes from becoming brittle
• Falls Rubber was bought in 1930 by the Master Tire & Rubber Company (composed of The Giant Tire & Rubber Company and The Cooper Corporation)
• The Mastercraft tire was a brand used by Falls right from the beginning, and is thought to have been the source of inspiration for the name “Master Tire” of the company that was then a competitor
• In 1946, the Master Tire Company changed its name to Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, as this was their largest and best selling brand. All the other brands continued to be sold separately, including Mastercraft
• The name Falls is deleted from the logo in 1995, and it remains Mastercraft Tires
• Besides Mastercraft, Cooper also owns the tire brands Avon, Dean, Mickey Thompson, Starfire and Roadmaster.
