Did you know that?..
Nashua was nearly named Rabbitville or Possum Trot!
In 1853 these two animals were the favorite BBQ delicacies of the settlement… And the city was nearly named after them! But the choice (thank God) has fallen on the City of Kansas after the Kansas River. The name originates from “Kanza People” — this is what the local Native Americans called themselves. In 1889 it was renamed Nashua.

An easily accessible Boston bedroom community
One of the reasons Nashua was called the best place to live in the U.S. (twice) is undoubtedly its perfect location. Just 45 minutes from Boston, it is easy to get — and to get around in. New Hampshire’s coast and beaches are just a half hour away, and it will take about an hour to get to the pristine lakes and mountains. Nashua Municipal Airport connects the second-largest NH city with the rest of the country, and Boston Express is a convenient bus service to The City on a Hill. Nashua Transit System helps the residents to get around the city, offering nine convenient bus routes.
A well-developed roadways system
Nashua is perfectly connected to the outside world by the network of roadways. The main highway crossing the city is the Everett Turnpike. A Broad Street Parkway, completed in 2015, connects the city’s downtown with Exit 6 of the Everett Turnpike and serves as the third crossing of the Nashua River. This initiative, discussed since the 60s, has significantly eased traffic congestion and played a part in the economic development of the downtown area.
The other key roads and highways of Nashua
The U.S. Route 3 comes from Massachusetts, entering the local grounds at Exit 7E, branching northeast along Henri A. Burque Highway to Concord Street, and heads north to Merrimack
New Hampshire State Highway 101A (NH 101A) enters Nashua from the northwest and follows Amherst Street to the Main Street
NH 111 enters Nashua from the southwest and follows Hollis Street, reaching the city’s eastern border at Merrimack River
NH 111A enters Nashua from the southwest and follows Groton Road to Main Dunstable Road to Hollis Street.
NH 130 enters Nashua from the west and follows Broad Street to Amherst Street.

What tires do you need for Nashua weather?
Nashua has a humid continental climate. Summers here are long, warm, and humid, and winters are cold and snowy. The average high temperature in July is 70,9 °F, and the average low is 22,7 °F in January. The winter snowfalls can be extremely heavy, resulting in 55 inches of snow annually.
If you live in Nashua, you need two sets of tires. Humid summers require a good set of summer or performance tires. Their rubber compound won’t “melt” on heated road surfaces, and a unique tread design with grooves prevents aquaplaning during heavy rains. In winter, we highly recommend equipping your vehicle with a good set of Mud and Snow, winter, or snow tires. If you want to use all-season rubber, do so in temperatures not lower than 45 °F.
